Pricing
How much does Pitis POS cost?
Free during beta — all features, no limits, no credit card required. If we introduce pricing later, we'll give you plenty of notice first.
Is there a free trial period?
The entire beta period is free. You get full access to every feature with no time limit and no transaction cap. When paid plans are introduced, your data and settings carry over seamlessly.
Are there hidden charges or setup fees?
No. No setup fee, no monthly fixed fee, no per-transaction fee, and no device limit. Everything is free during beta. If pricing is introduced later, we'll announce it clearly in advance.
Features
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Pitis POS is built offline-first — all orders, products, and settings are saved securely on your device. You can sell, print receipts, and run your full operation without any internet connection. Optional cloud backup is planned for a future update.
How long does setup take?
Usually 5 to 15 minutes — depending on how many products you add. Download the app, enter your business info, add your products, and you're ready to start selling the same day. No technician, no training course needed.
Can I use it on multiple devices?
Pitis POS v2 is optimised for single-device use. Multi-device and multi-terminal support is planned for a future release. A single device can handle both the POS counter and the Kitchen Display (KDS) screen via app tabs.
Is there a Kitchen Display (KDS) feature?
Yes. Pitis POS includes a built-in Kitchen Display mode. Orders placed at the POS screen appear automatically on the KDS tab — no separate device or app needed. Kitchen staff can mark orders as Preparing and Ready in real time.
Can I scan barcodes?
Yes. Pitis POS supports two barcode scanning methods: the built-in iPhone camera (tap the camera icon in the search bar) and external Bluetooth HID barcode scanners. Scanning a barcode automatically adds the product to the active sale.
Can I manage staff accounts and access levels?
Yes. Pitis POS supports four roles: Owner (full access), Manager (all POS functions), Cashier (sales and basic reports), and Kitchen/Dapur (Kitchen Display only — cannot access POS, reports, or settings). Each account uses a 4-digit PIN. Kitchen staff see only the KDS screen when they log in, preventing them from processing unauthorised sales.
Does it support shift management?
Yes. Pitis POS includes shift open/close with X Report (current shift summary) and Z Report (shift close with cash count). You can record the opening float, track cash sales during the shift, and reconcile at end of day.
Does it support service charge (SC)?
Yes. Go to Settings → Service Charge, toggle it on, and set your rate (e.g. 10%). The app calculates SC automatically on every sale: (Subtotal − Discount) × rate. It appears as a separate line in the cart and on the printed receipt, positioned between the discount and SST — which is the standard Malaysian F&B format.
Does it support QR self-ordering?
Yes. Enable QR Menu in Settings, then print or display the QR code at each table. Customers scan it with any phone camera — no app download needed — browse your menu, and place their order. Orders arrive on the Kitchen Display (KDS) automatically. Once ready, a cashier imports the order into the POS to collect payment at the counter.
Can kitchen staff be restricted from using the POS?
Yes. Create a staff account with the Kitchen (Dapur) role. When kitchen staff log in with that PIN, they see only the Kitchen Display screen. The POS, Reports, Inventory, and Settings tabs are completely hidden — preventing staff from processing sales without payment.
Hardware
Does it support Bluetooth thermal printers?
Yes. Pitis POS connects to standard ESC/POS Bluetooth thermal printers — both 58mm and 80mm paper widths are supported. The app scans for nearby Bluetooth printers, connects with a tap, and auto-reconnects if the connection drops. Cash drawer opening via the printer is also supported.
Which Bluetooth printers are compatible?
Any ESC/POS-compatible Bluetooth thermal printer works — common brands include EPSON, STAR, Xprinter, iDPRT, and many generic brands. Look for printers labelled "ESC/POS Bluetooth" on Shopee or Lazada.
Can I open a cash drawer with the app?
Yes. If your cash drawer is connected to the Bluetooth thermal printer (via the printer's RJ11 port), Pitis POS can trigger it to open automatically after every cash sale, or manually from the printer settings.
Payments
What payment methods are supported?
Cash (with automatic change calculation), DuitNow QR, Card, and Customer Credit — each selected and recorded at checkout. For Card, the app records the sale while your own bank terminal handles the card itself; integrated card and e-wallet processing is planned for a future release.
How does DuitNow QR work in the app?
At checkout, select DuitNow QR as the payment method. The customer scans your own DuitNow QR — the standard static QR from your bank — and pays from their banking app. You confirm the payment received and the sale is recorded. No terminal, no card reader needed.
LHDN & Receipts
Are receipts LHDN-compliant?
Yes. All receipts include your TIN, SSM registration number, business name, address, MSIC code, and are formatted to meet LHDN e-Invoice field requirements. You submit to MyInvois yourself — Pitis POS does not integrate with the MyInvois API directly (planned for v3).
Can I export receipts or sales data?
Yes. Each sale can be exported as a PDF (for sharing or printing from phone) or CSV (for importing into Excel or for manual MyInvois submission). You can also export bulk CSV reports from the Reports section.
Is Pitis POS suitable for B2B e-Invoice (with buyer TIN)?
Basic B2B e-Invoice fields (buyer TIN entry) are on the roadmap. Currently, receipts include all seller-side LHDN fields. Buyer TIN input will be added in an upcoming update.
Data & Privacy
Where is my data stored?
All your data (products, sales, staff, settings) is stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. This is the primary source of truth — the app works 100% offline. Optional cloud backup to Supabase is available under Settings → Cloud Backup. When enabled, completed sales are automatically synced to the cloud whenever you have an internet connection.
What happens if I lose my phone or change devices?
If Cloud Backup is enabled (Settings → Cloud Backup), your sales history is preserved in the cloud. We recommend also exporting sales reports regularly as CSV from the Reports tab. Full restore-to-new-device from cloud backup will be available in an upcoming update.
Is my business data safe?
Yes. Local data is protected by iOS Data Protection (encrypted when device is locked). Staff PINs are stored as hashed values, never in plain text. When cloud backup is introduced, backup data will be encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not sell or share your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
